Saturday Ride

Miller’s Run

This was my trip south of the city, and it was worth it. I’m spoiled by quick access to farm roads north of the city, and always put off a bit by the West End Circle, but the circle isn’t bad at all, especially when approached via Carson Street. There is actually very little “sprawl”-ish riding, too, with a bit just outside of Carnegie, which is easily avoided via Thoms Run. Sygan Road is really great–a long, gravel climb passing the usual mixture of farms and McMansions, with absolutely stunning views from the ridge (I should add that I tapped into my inner Oscar Swan when finding Sygan–I spied the road surface and thought “this has to be it”). The descent back to Noblestown via Nesbitt is also good fun, though reminded me that I should really adjust my brakes, as I wasn’t entirely sure I was going to be able to stop before Noblestown. Noblestown itself is also amazing–mostly flat and false flat, with a rollers for good measure.

Who knew southern roads were so swell?
