Massive changes in our weekend plan left me a bit of time this morning for ride (something I didn’t think would happen this weekend). With only about one hour to ride, I did what any sane person would do–ride Dirty Dozen hills: High Street, Logan, and Suffolk/Hazelton/Burgess. Logan is merely a matter of focus, I think. Yeah, it’s steep, but it’s just about focusing on the small patch of pavement in front of my wheel and turning the cranks. Suffolk was harder than I remember. For some reason, I envisioned Hazelton being this long stretch of flat between the two hills, but in reality it’s about 10 meters long, and not flat.
I wanted to finish on Sycamore, but crazy traffic in town, thanks to the Pitt game, cut my time short. I instead finished by climbing Stanton, which is very much not at all steep compared to the DD hills.
I think am I still very much undecided about the Dirty Dozen. Could be fun, but requires boatloads of suffering. We’ll see if anyone can convince to join the madness.
